My mailing address isn’t Stallings… so I don't live in Stallings... do I? This is one of the most frequently asked questions by residents who actually live in Stallings. So, let’s dive a little deeper into this issue and clear up any confusion.
Mailing addresses not only identify where a person lives, but also which post office/postal district services that address. When someone lives in unincorporated Union County, their address is not “Union County, NC”. Rather it identifies the post office/postal district servicing that address such as “Monroe, NC.”
Because the Town of Stallings does not have a post office, Stallings residents rely on post offices located in other municipalities for mail delivery. This is why most Stallings residents have a mailing address of “Matthews, NC” or “Indian Trial, NC.” Stallings residents' mail is processed through the Matthews Post Office or the Indian Trail Post Office.
There are two easy ways to determine if you live in Stallings:
1. Your tax bill or home closing documents will list the entities you are required to pay taxes to based on your home's physical location; or
2. Give us a call at Town Hall! We can easily determine if you live inside our Town limits based on your street address.
So don't be discouraged... with or without a Stallings post office, you can still be a Stallings resident! Your mailing address is simply a road map for your mail to find you. We are so glad you are here and so happy you decided to call Stallings home regardless of what your address says!
Fun Fact: In the 1980s, Stallings did have a post office which operated out of the Town Hall. However, due to lack of funding, the Stallings Post Office closed and Stallings residents were then serviced by other post offices in the area.
