As the flowers bloom and spring breathes new life into our community, it's also the season of planning and preparation for local governments. This year, as Stallings celebrates its 50th Anniversary, we’re reflecting on our growth—and planning wisely for the future.

Spring marks the season of the budget creation process, where your municipal leaders work to allocate resources for everything from public safety and parks to infrastructure and community programs. This isn’t just a local effort—it’s part of a larger timeline that connects with the state budget process. Municipalities in North Carolina are required by law to adopt a balanced budget by June 30, in time for the new fiscal year beginning July 1.

During this season, elected officials review financial data, assess community needs, consider new projects, and estimate revenues—such as taxes, fees, and state-shared revenues. It’s a thoughtful, transparent process—and public input matters. Whether you attend a budget session, speak at a Council meeting, or just send us your thoughts, your voice helps shape how we invest in the community.

So, as you enjoy the longer days and Stallings' award-winning parks, know that the Council and Staff are hard at work behind the scenes, crafting a budget that reflects 50 years of service—and a future full of promise.
